Press Release:
Bomis comes to terms with its inner pain.
August 23, 1999 Internet index Bomis.com has come to terms with its inner pain, the popular web site revealed today, bringing to a close nearly three years of anguish and denial. "Eventually you have to just own up to the hurt," the web site said at a luxurious yet sparsely attended press conference. "I suppose my past will always be shrouded in a sort of dark cloud, but that is just something I will have to deal with. Now, hopefully, I can just get on with my life." The news came as welcome relief to the numerous friends and associates of Bomis.com. However, some well-informed sources characterized this as a bittersweet victory at best, doubting that the web site will ever be able to truly love again. "It still feels vulnerable, and I doubt it will ever really trust anyone again," Bomis programmer Jake Aswald told members of the press on condition of anonymity. "And without trust, there can be no love, not in any deep sense." Bomis, located at www.bomis.com, is an index of member built rings. Each ring has a specific subject, and links to various other web sites on that subject. Visitors can navigate from site to site within the ring using special navigation tools developed by Bomis. There's some other stuff there too. |
