Press Release:
Bomis steals your pants.
March 20, 2000 Internet index Bomis.com announced today that it has stolen your pants. No announcement was made regarding why it was your pants and not someone else's that were stolen, and there is still no indication as to what Bomis intends to do with your pants. Some industry observers have suggested that your pants will be part of Bomis.com's long-term growth strategy, while others view it as a stopgap strategy designed to preserve momentum in the short run. At least one analyst suggested it was merely a random act of weirdness, like so much of what goes on in the world these days. Today's pants stealing episode marks Bomis.com's return to pants stealing after a nearly three month hiatus. "We've stolen many pants" the web site said in a booming stentorian voice that seemed to come from all directions, "and no one has done anything to stop us. So, we're going to just keep doing it." "No one's pants are safe," a Bomis spokesman later added. Bomis.com, named after the Aramaic word for 'mouse click', is a privately-held Internet property based in San Diego, California. Bomis is visited by more than 2 million people every month and shows nearly 2 million pages every day. |
